How We Get It Done - Never Give Up

Posted by Richard Massafra on

My wife and I went to the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site last week.  It was a nice trip we stopped on the way back from doing business in Altoona PA.

The reason the railroad was built was to move goods from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh faster and more economical than wagon train.

The goods started on boats. Then the boats would be put on rail cars and hulled up and down the mountain. Then the boats would be back in the water. There was one big hurdle and it was the Allegheny Mountains.

I think when they started the project there were no steam engines.  The canal was dug by hand.  Locks and dams needed constructed. At that time it was an engineering miracle.

The reason it was completed - because they believed it could be done.  There were people who died making this canal and railroad.  There were mistakes.  There were improvements.  They adapted new technology to make it work better.

We can get things done the same way.  Start towards the finish line.  Make adjustments.  Jump over hurdles.  Overcome set backs.

The same goes for you and your dog.  The same is true in marriage.  The same is true in business. The same is true when raising children.  All of these things will require course adjustments, there will be failures, we will learn new techniques.

Just keep your eye on the prize and never give up.
